Look It Up

Measurement style

How the next measurement will be drawn. Styles are named for what they’re for — Roof, Opening, Existing — because a take-off is read at a glance, and they’re saved with the project so a colleague opening it sees the same drawing. Select measurements first and the same button restyles them. Editing a style never changes what’s already drawn.

Why you would use it

So a sheet can be read at a glance. Nine take-off groups drawn in the same two colours tells you nothing about which line is which.

For example

What to do

  1. Pick a style from the button before you measure.
  2. To change something already drawn, select it and pick a style.

Going further

Manage styles lets you rename, recolour and add your own. A style can say its colour — any colour, not only the ten offered — its thickness, whether the line is solid, dashed, dotted, dash-dot or long dash, how much of the drawing underneath shows through, whether an area is shaded and how strongly, which shape marks a counted item, how large its labels are, and which measurements it’s offered for. Everything is previewed as you change it. Styles are saved with the project, and changing one never repaints what’s already drawn.
