Use the flashing workings workbook in Excel
The order sheet as an Excel workbook that still calculates: change a stock length or a lap and the totals work themselves out again.
This is the flashing order sheet many estimators keep: one row for each run of each flashing, ending in how many of each to order and which drawings they came from. Export it from Export take-off… by choosing Flashing workings (Excel, still calculates).
What’s in it
- Runs
- One row per run: the flashing, the drawing, the metres, the stock length, laps or butt straps, and the quantity to order. The yellow cells are yours to change or add to; formulas are filled down to row 300.
- Lookups
- Your flashings and their stock lengths. Pick a flashing in the Runs sheet and its stock length is looked up from here.
- Totals
- One line per flashing: total metres, the quantity with no laps, the quantity to order, butt straps, and the drawings it came from.
- Config
- The folder your drawings are kept in, used by the Open drawing column.
Using it
- Open the file in Excel. If it opens in Protected View, choose Enable Editing so the formulas can calculate.
- Change a stock length in Lookups, or a lap on a row, and the totals recalculate.
- To add a run the drawing didn’t have, type it in the next empty row. Its quantity works itself out.
- To make the Open drawing column work, type the folder your drawings are in on Config. Each row links to that folder plus the drawing's file name.
