My measurements look wrong, or say “Not calibrated”

Nearly always the scale. How to tell, and how to put it right without losing work.

If a measurement is wildly out, or the status bar says Not calibrated, the cause is almost always the scale for that page.

  1. Look at the Scale in the status bar. If it says Not calibrated, calibrate: press K and use a printed dimension.
  2. Measure a second printed dimension and compare. Off by the same proportion everywhere means the reference was wrong; off by different amounts means the drawing isn’t to one scale.
  3. Check you’re calibrating on the right page. Each page has its own scale.
  4. Recalibrate from the longest known line on the sheet.

If you recalibrate after measuring, the measurements already made keep the scale they were taken under and the register flags them. Select them, right-click one and choose Update selection to the current scale (or find that with Ctrl+F), to bring them up to date.
