See where somebody is looking, and follow them
Pointers, a marker at the edge when they’re looking off screen, and a Follow button that keeps your drawing on theirs.
Other people's pointers show on the drawing in their colour, with their name. If somebody is looking at a part of the drawing you can’t see, a small marker at the edge says so (“Sam is looking above”). Click it to go there.
- Open the People tab. Each person who shares their page has two buttons.
- See their view takes you to what they’re looking at, once.
- Follow keeps your drawing on theirs as they move it. Press Stop, or just move the drawing yourself, to take it back; Back to my view returns you to where you were.
Pointers and markers only apply to people on the same drawing as you. If somebody is on another of the room's drawings, See their view and Follow take you to that drawing first.
Present to the room
The host can bring everybody to their view. Choose Present to everyone in the People tab (or the command Present to the Dato Room). The drawing is outlined in your colour and says how many are with you.
- Everybody who has Join a presentation as it starts on (Settings › Collaborate, on by default) is taken to your view, with a note saying so. Anybody else is offered it.
- Anybody can press Go my own way at any time; the note then offers Return to Sam whenever they want to rejoin. Moving the drawing yourself does the same.
- Press Stop presenting, or leave, and everybody is let go.
The host can also name other people as presenters (Make presenter beside their name in People). Only the host and the people named can present; anybody else claiming to isn’t followed. If two people present at once, everybody follows the one who began first.
Pointers that move the way a hand does
A pointer is drawn a moment behind where the person really is, sliding smoothly between positions they sent, so it moves the way their hand did rather than jumping a few times a second. If nothing has come for a while it fades, and when it comes back it appears where it now is instead of flying across the drawing.
Watch what they’re drawing
While you follow somebody and they place the points of a length, an area or an arrow, a faint dashed copy of the shape appears on your drawing in their colour and style, with their name at its end, and goes when they finish. It’s for showing how: ask them to lead, and follow. It’s sent only while somebody follows them, is never saved, and is never shown to anybody who isn’t following. Either side can turn it off in Settings › Collaborate: Show what the person I follow is drawing and Let people following me see what I am drawing.
