Look It Up

Line

A straight line on the drawing. Click one end then the other, or drag. Hold Shift to keep it horizontal, vertical or at 45°.

Why you would use it

To strike something through, to join two things, or to show where something should go. It reports no length — that’s what Length under Measure is for.

For example

What to do

  1. Click one end.
  2. Click the other end, or drag.
  3. Hold Shift to keep it straight.

Going further

Markup doesn’t snap to the drawing. An arrow or a line goes where your hand went; snapping exists so a MEASURED corner is the real corner.

If you already use another program

In a CAD program: A line, but a mark on the sheet rather than part of the drawing; it’s never measured.

In a building-model program: A detail line.

In a PDF markup program: A line markup.
