Place a copy

Carries the copy on the cursor as an outline and puts it down where you click.

Why you would use it

For when you want to see it before it lands — lining a detail up against what’s already on the sheet, or trying a position and changing your mind.

For example

What to do

1. Copy something.
2. Choose Place a copy.
3. Move the outline where you want it.
4. Click to put it down, or press Escape to leave it.

Going further

Escape leaves nothing behind — no measurement to find and delete afterwards — and the tool hands you back to whatever you were using.
